Rolfing® Structural Integration is named after Dr. Ida P. Rolf.  Dr.  Rolf developed a holistic system of soft tissue manipulation and movement education that organizes the whole body in gravity; she named this system “Structural Integration.”  She discovered that she could achieve remarkable changes in posture, structure and mental wellbeing by manipulating the body’s myofascial system.

Rolfers™ are highly skilled and trained practitioners of Structural Integration. Rolfers make a lifelong study of how the body organizes itself and moves through space in relation to the gravitational field of the Earth.  Rolfers are also trained recognize structural misalignment and inefficient movement patterns, as well as to how these patterns are impeding normal function in the body.

Rolfing® practitioners may also be trained in other areas as well, such as Cranial Sacral therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Somatic Therapies and other modalities to help further enhance the whole-being approach to Structural Integration.

Rolfing® Structural Integration works by releasing restrictions in the myofascial system (connective tissue) caused by injury, trauma, aging and lifestyle.  Rolfers release restricted areas in the myofascial system by applying pressure with their hands, soft fist, or forearm coupled with synchronized movement cues.  By freeing the restrictions natural alignment can occur.  This results in aches and pains disappearing, energy levels increasing, restored function and vitality both mentally and physically.

Basic 10 Series

The basic Rolfing well-being series also known as the 10 series is based on 10-12 sessions with a professional Rolfer.  Each session builds on the previous session and is  based on a client's individual needs.  In the series, the whole body is brought to a higher level of order and the client is educated on more efficient movement patterns to maintain their result.
